What You’ll Do

Instruction & Classroom Management

  • Deliver instructional lessons and activities using school-approved curriculum and lesson plans.
  • Maintain a positive, orderly, and engaging classroom environment that supports student learning.
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies and reinforce school-wide behavior expectations.
  • Supervise students at all times and ensure student safety throughout the school day.
  • Take attendance, monitor student participation, and maintain accurate classroom records.
  • Support differentiated instruction and implement accommodations for students with IEPs, 504 Plans, and other individualized learning needs.

Student Supervision & Safety

  • Supervise students during classroom instruction, transitions, lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, and other assigned duties.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
  • Follow all school safety procedures, including reporting injuries, illnesses, or suspected abuse as required.
  • Ensure appropriate supervision during field trips and other school activities.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Maintain positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
  • Participate in IAT and IEP meetings as requested.
  • Communicate professionally with school administration regarding student needs and classroom concerns.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all student information.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Follow all Performance Academies policies, procedures, and instructional expectations.
  • Maintain classroom equipment, instructional materials, and school property.
  • Complete required documentation, reports, and administrative tasks in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Education preferred.
  • Valid Ohio Substitute Teaching License or appropriate state licensure.
  • Successful completion of required state and federal background checks.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and basic instructional technology.

Preferred Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of effective classroom management and instructional practices.
  • Familiarity with Ohio Learning Standards and student assessment practices.
  • Ability to support diverse learners, including students with disabilities.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new classroom environments and work collaboratively with school staff.
